Club Objectives

  • To extend skills learnt elsewhere;
  • To develop awareness of water safety and personal survival;
  • To respond to the needs of the club members and the community;
  • To encourage swimmers to enjoy all facets of the sport

Swimming is now becoming a very popular sport and pastime with increased coverage from the Commonwealth and Olympic Games; and the importance of exercise and the need for increasing safety at beaches.

Portishead Amateur Swimming Club currently has a membership of 115, and approximately 70 on the waiting list.

Our teachers are suitably qualified and dedicated to provide the children with a variety of opportunities to develop and enhance their stroke technique, skill development and personal safety skills.

The club is supported by an enthusiastic and committed committee; we always welcome new members; that ensure the smooth running of the Club, keeping up to date with new initiatives and continually looking at ways to develop the Club further, whilst ensuring we remain a friendly and non-competitive Club.

If you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us via the 'Contact Us' page or speak to a commitee member or teacher on a Club night
